Bocce Ball SUPERFAN

Now I’m not playing Bocce this weekend, but I’ve been daydreaming ALL MORNING about fresh cut grass and our local Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce Bocce Ball Tournament on May 26th. Are you playing? Are you intrerested in supporting the event? I’m playing on a Team with Greg Lee from the YMCA.

My Triangle Leadership

Leadership Triangle Participants and Alum Mayor Tom Stevens (May 2009)

I’m looking forward to a networking event with Alumni from all the Leadership programs in the Triangle tonight at Bay 7 in Durham, NC. Over the last 5 years I’ve worked hard to establish DSI Comedy Theater in the community and, honestly, to legitimize the work that I do. I have been contracted to offer workshops in improvisation and facilitate programs for both Leadership Triangle and Chapel Hill-Carrboro Leadership.

My philosophy of play and the communication skills I developed while studying the Art of Comedy have made me the effective Leader that I am today. So, in the interest of my own community development and the personal and professional growth of my peers, I try to be an Ambassador for improv whenever I have the opportunity. I preach the Gospel of Improv — active listening, unconditional support, trust and teamwork.

It was hard to break into my network of “business” peers at first. Remember, I’m the funny guy wearing denim and the brightly colored shoes, the guy who works until 3am and performs comedy on the weekend. It was easy for some people to assume that ZW was just “playing” business, but my persistence (#Hustle) and the constant presence of DSI Comedy Theater in the press has been IMPOSSIBLE to ignore.

More recently, the beard helps.

And a News & Observer article doesn’t hurt.

BOCCE should be a priority

After the last few weeks of #Hustle and shifting work / life priorities, I have officially decided that my Summer plans should AND WILL include BOCCE domination. If you want to meet with me it may no longer be over coffee; it just might be over a game that has us throw and chase heavy brightly colored balls back and forth on a plush lawn. Of course I’ll have some new dark beers or coffee on hand at the #ZW Office.

But can Top of the Hill cater My backyard?

Can Laura Morrison organize My own personal Tournaments?

And would Greg Lee be My All-time BOCCE partner?

All jokes aside, so much CAN HAPPEN at networking events. But are you prepared to get what you want out of new relationships? Do you know what you have to offer Those Who Would Be Clients? Are you able to clearly and effectively communicate what you NEED and what you HAVE? It’s Summer; Meet people out on the field, throw your balls and get to know them. Actively LISTEN, Be fully present, TAKE CONTROL of the conversation at the right time and you could get potential clients excited about almost anything.

If you want ZW Coaching to help make other people take notice and get them excited about You, let me know. Or maybe you just want to play BOCCE; I’m up for anything. Anything.
